DAILY NANCY UPDATE #9

Greetings.

This is the ninth in a series of DAILY NANCY UPDATES I will be posting until the amazing Nancy Neufeld Callaway is in full remission and we have kicked her leukemia on its ass.

BREAKING NEWS

As the molecular test results from Nancy's initial bone marrow biopsy continue to trickle in-- we've identified more specific genetic markers of her leukemia. The most current diagnosis, according to Dr. Gary Schiller at UCLA, is known as B-CELL Philadelphia Strain Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Increasing levels of specificity are important-- because they help our amazing team of oncologists further customize Nancy's treatment to make sure we're showing her cancer the door as swiftly and permanently as possible.

HEADLINES

Across The Great Divide

My cold has improved dramatically overnight-- which only matters because that makes me one step closer to being able to return to Nancy's room, which is currently on full bacterial lockdown. She needed a bunch of stuff last night (clean clothes, an eye mask, and a few other fun surprises to help beat the boredom of being stuck in her room) and I needed to be close to her. So rather than just have someone else send the stuff over and connect with her on FaceTime-- I opted for the next best thing. After dropping the stuff off with her charge nurse-- I walked down a sixth floor hallway at UCLA hospital that runs parallel to Nancy's hospital room window. That way, while talking to her on the phone-- we could wave at each other across a courtyard. And yes, she's in a towel, fresh from the bath. So enjoy the view-- but remember she's mine!

TODAY'S HURDLE

Round 2 of chemo begins around 10pm tonight. They're probably gonna hit her hard with the big stuff. So your thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated.

POSTSCRIPT

With our amazing daughter safely back at Bates College in Maine--  I really want to give a shout out to our sons' school-- the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks. From the Headmaster, to the principals, dean of students, teachers, and the entire extended school community-- everyone has been so incredibly kind, patient, and supportive of all of us. We just want them to know how touched we are by all of their efforts to make our kids' lives easier during a very difficult time.

WE LOVE NANCY AND WE WILL NOT BE DEFEATED.
