Greetings.
This is the fourth in a series of DAILY NANCY UPDATES I will be posting until the amazing Nancy Neufeld Callaway is in full remission and we have kicked her leukemia on its ass.

BREAKING NEWS
After her first full day of chemo, Nancy got the news this morning that her white blood cell count-- which was dangerously high when we first arrived at UCLA-- has now dropped substantially. Obviously, we don't want to get too stuck on the numbers because it's still very early in her fight-- and cell counts can and probably will continue to fluctuate. But we're gonna thankfully accept it as wonderful news all the same-- and yet another sign that the Sunshiny Superwarrior Goddess cannot and will not be defeated.
HEADLINES
A few of Nancy's closest girlfriends have organized a "food train" delivering meals to our house-- including a cooler outside to leave them if we're not at home when they arrive. And all kinds of friends and colleagues have dropped off a plethora of other treats as well.
To not have to cook or think about going out at the end of these long days is a true gift. Thank you all again from the bottom of our hearts (and our stomachs) for your many kindnesses.
TODAY'S HURDLE
Nancy's fighting some leg pain again today. Leukemia causes white blood cells to overproduce within the marrow of your bones; creating a lot of pressure, which in turn, causes significant pain. And although anti-inflammatories are very effective at stopping it-- they also unfortunately mask fevers-- which are critical indicators of infection. So the doctors tend to only give her the kinds of major pain killers that often throw her for a serious loop. Your thoughts and prayers for her clear-minded pain relief and continued improvement are deeply appreciated.
POSTSCRIPT
Trey's kinda been all over the place emotionally in the past 24 hours. So if you connected with him and were left feeling either worried or offended in any way-- please don't be. This is a challenging journey for all of us-- especially for Nancy. But we'll all get through it. Why? Because...
WE LOVE NANCY AND WE WILL NOT BE DEFEATED.
