Greetings.
This is the eleventh in a series of DAILY NANCY UPDATES I will be posting until the amazing Nancy Neufeld Callaway is in full remission and we have kicked her leukemia on its ass.

BREAKING NEWS
After the latest round of chemo, Nancy's white blood cell count continues to slowly but surely drop-- which is the news we need to get her to remission. She's staying active on her exercise bike (the kids and I made her an upbeat 4 hour mix tape with personal messages between songs for inspiration) and she's been seeing meditational guides, receiving some Reiki body work, and is getting a massage today, as well. She's joked about it being like a great spa-- except for the cancer part. In other words, her sense of humor is still fully intact.
HEADLINES
Who's a Good Boy?
Why the pic of Zingo? Well, because just like the rest of us, he's been missing Nancy something terrible. In fact, as I told the veterinarian today during his checkup-- he actually followed Nancy around for at least a week before her diagnosis-- staying close to her at all times-- almost as if he somehow sensed there was something wrong. And since she's been in the hospital, he's been extremely lethargic-- laying for hours by the front door, and often sleeping by her side of the bed. Yet he's got a completely clean bill of health. So what's the diagnosis? According to the vet-- he's sad about Nancy-- it's just that simple. Golden Retrievers are extremely empathetic and emotional. Which means in addition to giving him even more love around the house (feel free to stop by and pet him yourself!) - we're also giving Zingo some organic doggie "mood enhancers" prescribed to tide him over and cheer him up a little until Mom gets home.
TODAY'S HURDLE
Nancy needs to keep thinking as positively as possible about her recovery-- which isn't always easy when you start to feel like a prisoner in a leukemia ward-- even one as nice as UCLA's. So post a few words of encouragement for her here if you have a moment. It would mean a lot to all of us.
POSTSCRIPT
It's been raining for a few days in LA-- which normally I love-- and God knows we need it. But as the human equivalent of a Golden Retriever myself, I must confess, all the cloudy skies are starting to make me feel a little blue, too. So if you have any sunshine to spread (along with your good thoughts and prayers for Nancy's continued recovery) I'd be eternally grateful.
WE LOVE NANCY AND WE WILL NOT BE DEFEATED.
You are in my thoughts often throughout the day Nancy. Keep up the meditation, positive thoughts and riding that bike! Watching the Ellen show was good therapy for me- she always makes me laugh!

As self proclaimed Queen of Sunshine, here's a little bit for my friend. Once I kick the cooties I'm still oozing, I'll be there to karaoke with you, doll. (I think you have to cut and paste 'cause I'm just not that clever). xo d.

I'd like to expand on the Golden Retriever analogy. I think that although you may APPEAR to be a Golden Retriever....you are actually a rare crossover breed---The Golden Russell. Your Jack Russell brain never sits still, constantly thinking and bouncing and yipping, while your calm Golden exterior maintains the illusion of a lovable, friendly and goofy guy. Nancy is maybe a Saluki- elegant and loyal and patient. A perfect pair. Big dog kisses to both of you, hoping you get home to your Golden boys soon, Nancy.

Keep your sunny side up - hide the clouds when you're blue - an old lyric (the only kind I remember!) but when I'm down, I sing this one. See if you can find it on iTunes. Next line is "if you have 9 sons in a row - baseball teams make money you know!" If you can't find it, you may not be too happy because I will (once my cough is gone) have to come over and sing it in person. OMG! You won't want that!!! Sending you and Trey and the kids and Zingo lots of love.
