BREAKING NEWS
More good news this morning from Dr. Sven Devos, one of a team of oncologists and hematologists treating Nancy at UCLA. Her white blood cell count has continued to drop even lower-- with the ultimate goal of "zeroing it out" before building it back up.
They also moved an exercise bike into Nancy's room so the Sunshiny Superwarrior Goddess can stay fit during the fight. She's such a badass.
HEADLINES
Our youngest kid Cosmo took over the family schedule board last night to draw this rendering of Nancy giving cancer a "Dropkick to the Face." Frankly, I wish he never had to imagine something like this. But at the same time, I'm oddly glad he did. Makes me smile everytime I look at it.
TODAY'S HURDLE
Unfortunately, that minor cough of Nancy's hasn't gone away. And because she has little to no working immune system right now, the doctors made a decision this morning to completely ban anyone with even the slightest of sniffles from visiting her-- and everyone else in her room has to wear a mask, gloves, and gown. Staff included. They ran a bunch of viral tests just to determine how best to treat her if she does have a cold. But in the meantime, the colds that Cosmo, Crockett, and myself contracted last week in Mexico-- will now prevent us from seeing her until we're completely well. Even though we know it's for the best-- that was really hard news for all of us to hear. And poor Nancy now feels like she's starring in a reboot of "The Andromeda Strain."
POSTSCRIPT
After an amazing first semester where she had an absolute blast-- Clementine heads back to college in Maine tomorrow morning. And understandably, she doesn't want to go. But after a whole bunch of soul searching-- we've all decided it's the best thing for her to do. LIFE GOES ON. And because she's the World's Best Mom-- Nancy wants Clem to keep kicking ass at Bates the same way she's now kicking ass at UCLA. Meanwhile, we appreciate your thoughts and prayers for a safe, stress-free return for our favorite "little girl" - and bonus points if you have a moment to drop Clem a text or email with a few words of positive encouragement.
WE LOVE YOU, CLEMMY! AND WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!
