Greetings.
This is the one hundred and fourth in a series of DAILY NANCY UPDATES I will be posting until the amazing Nancy Neufeld Callaway is in full remission and we have kicked her leukemia on its ass.

SUNDAY REPORT
Maybe I'm the problem.
Because after 11 days straight in the ICU with Nancy-- all while trying to balance everything else in our lives-- I finally started to hit a wall by Saturday.
So since things are usually pretty quiet at City of Hope on Sundays-- our sweet friend Noa volunteered to take over from Shirley this morning and spend the day solo with Nancy, so I could get some rest and spend the day with our kids.
And guess what? Nancy had an amazing day!
For one thing--SHE ATE!
She had salmon, mashed potatoes, and chocolate cake for lunch-- ALL PUREED. Who knew you could puree chocolate cake? Doesn't that just make it a chocolate shake? Anyway, she ate it.
Then for dinner, she ate over half a bowl of soup. And honestly, after 11 days of nothing but IV nutrition, the fact she's finally eating again would be enough. But she can also now sip water from a straw-- which is also huge, since it means she can now swallow food and fluids safely.
And that's not all...
SHE TALKED A LOT MORE TODAY.
Apparently, her new favorite word is "Apparently," which she's been using repeatedly and amusingly. But she also immediately recognized Noa the moment she walked into the room and spoke to her off and on all day. She even spoke to me when I FaceTimed her before bed. We still have some work to do on her short term memory. And before you go too crazy with the texts or emails-- she's not able to reply to any of those, just yet.
But the Sunshiny Superwarrior Goddess continues to make incredible progress-- and for that, we are mightily thankful.
Tomorrow she'll get some more physical therapy to help her tired body try to keep up with her amazing brain. And I'll be rested and back by her side again myself.
Slowly but surely, she's coming back, you guys. And I can't tell you how happy that makes me.
WE LOVE NANCY, and...
ALL IS WELL!
